TouchTunes To Feature Winners Of Rock The Vote DemROCKracy Band Competition

TouchTunes Also Launching Its Second Rock The Vote Election Survey and Voter Registration Drive

NEW YORK – Sept. 23, 2008 – With just weeks to go before the US presidential elections, TouchTunes announced today that it is launching a special Rock The Vote playlist featuring the winners of the DemROCKracy Band Competition.

The TouchTunes Rock the Vote playlist will not only include major, global artists such as Good Charlotte, Wyclef Jean, and Christina Aguilera, but it will also include the DemROCKracy Band Competition winners Jackie V. from Austin, Texas; Otep from Los Angeles, California; and Mae, from Norfolk, Virginia.

The competition, sponsored by Rock The Vote, encouraged bands with a MySpace page to reach out to their fans by asking them to register to vote. The bands that registered the most voters through Rock the Vote's voter registration tool on MySpace won various prizes including Gibson guitars, the chance to perform on a major concert stage, and being included in the TouchTunes Rock The Vote playlist across its network of 35,000 digital jukeboxes. More than 3000 bands signed up and almost 5000 people registered to vote through various MySpace artist pages during the competition.
“Congratulations to all of the winners of the DemROCKracy Band Competition,” said Ron Greenberg, CMO, TouchTunes. “We’re happy to give these up-and-coming bands a very special opportunity for nationwide exposure on our network, in the right places with the right audience.”
In addition to the Rock The Vote playlist, TouchTunes is also kicking off its second Rock the Vote election survey on 15,000 digital jukebox screens nationwide. The survey, which will be available on selected jukeboxes through October 1, provides users with the opportunity to voice their opinions about the upcoming Presidential election and will encourage users to register and vote.

Called “Rock the Vote and Make a Difference,” the TouchTunes on-screen survey includes questions such as “Which musician would make the best Secretary of State?” and “What should be this year’s election anthem?”

“With the Presidential election right around the corner, Rock The Vote is working diligently to connect with as many unregistered voters as possible,” said Greenberg. “TouchTunes offers a unique outlet to reach hard-to-reach 21-34-year-olds. Our first Rock The Vote survey in May collected an amazing 10,000 email addresses from users interested in receiving voter registration information. We’d like to see at least as many people seeking information in the second survey, registering and voting. Plus it’s fun to answer the survey questions – and we’ll release the results nationally – personally, I’m voting for Eddie Vedder for secretary of state!”
